This October, The Frida Cinema is proud to present Beautiful Monsters: A Guillermo del Toro Film Retrospective and Tribute Art Show, featuring all eleven of the Academy Award-winning director’s feature films; three acclaimed films he produced; and seven films that served to inspire him. The series continues at The Frida Cinema with Nightmare Alley, a psychological thriller in the style of film noir.
Based on the William Lindsey Gresham novel of the same name, the film stars Academy Award-nominee Bradley Cooper as Stanton “Stan” Carlisle. An ambitious carnival man with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words, Stan meets a female psychiatrist and becomes taken with her. The two go into business together, but he quickly learns that she is even more dangerous than he is.
